Warning! We are planning to remove dead obsoleted mods!
More Survival Tools has a successor in the form of MST Extra.
-
More Survivor Stuff
Slightly related, there is an updated version of more survival tools here: https://github.com/chaosvolt/MST_Extra_Mod

Bug
Prison start is still very much a meme to be honest, more shenanigans we inherited from DDA. You may also notice that it can be hard to get anywhere with enough light needed to craft anything basic, and all the basic firestarting tools require light to make (unless you're using MST Extra mod, which adds dark-craftable fire ploughs).
-
Meat preservation.
For preserving organ meats, More Survival Tools Extra (same dev as Arcana & Magic Items) adds Jerked Offal.
- The impossibility of embracing primitivism in the Cataclysm...
- Any more "wild living/wilderness survival/inna woods" type mods?

Quality of Life and Balance Features you'd like to see in Cataclysm BN?
I don't know how you could make the early game longer without making it more tedious. Making it easier to stay early game without being forced to raid a city is doable, part of what mods like MST Extra seek to do, and every so often I port ideas from it over to BN. But forcing the player to draw out early game isn't really feasible without the kinda stunts DDA pulls.

Suggested Mods?
MST Extra. This is the successor to my old More Survival Tools mod that's long since been obsoleted. Adds more items and recipes, few other rebalances/tweaks, to make wilderness survival gameplay more interesting.
-
So, when are we gonna be able to get saltpeter out of more than just bird shit?
No idea. Keep in mind, last I checked that's not even in vanilla at all, but in MST Extra: https://github.com/chaosvolt/MST_Extra_Mod/blob/master/MST_Extra/recipes/recipe_medsandchemicals.json#L21

Mods like aftershock?
I like Kenan's BL9 mod, can be found in his Structured mod pack. If enabled from the start, the enemies can be a little rough to deal with but they fit nicely with Aftershock, so I just avoid them till I am ready.

More Survivor Stuff
From testing, I can tell you that everything in the non-archived section of the Kenan modpack (https://github.com/Kenan2000/CDDA-Structured-Kenan-Modpack) is working >99% of the time and is very actively maintained, though it will throw a few errors from time-to-time they are all non-fatal. Other mods are a gamble, but generally speaking this current string of experimentals is more feature-stable than the experimentals leading up to the 0.F stable release - that was the time when there was a big cull of mods over big feature changes.

If anyone in current experimental want to use the vamp_stuff mod

Can't find an updated version Axema's Vampiric Stuff mod

Magical Research (Magiclysm)
Big fan of Arcana and usually include it in any magical playthroughs. My last playthrough was with the keenan modpack (https://github.com/Kenan2000/CDDA-Structured-Kenan-Modpack) with an emphasis on BL9 (carried by arcana centipedes). Earning transcendent buffs is cool. Needing transcendent buffs is fun :)
- a random assortment of screenshots i found amusing.

What are your favorite mod combinations - mid 2022
Is that this one?

The mechanics for C:DDA is cool and in depth, but is there a version that is not a zombie apocalypse? Like a different story made with the same source code?
I'm not sure if it's maintained, but for a while there was a Dinomod mod that did this. Looks like it hasn't been updated recently though https://github.com/Kenan2000/CDDA-Structured-Kenan-Modpack/tree/master/Kenan-Structured-Modpack/High-Maintenance-Huge-Mods/Dino_Mad_Science

The game ships with a few "official" mods. A lot of the community-supported mods have moved to the Bright Nights fork. You can find most of the remaining ones here: https://github.com/Kenan2000/CDDA-Structured-Kenan-Modpack
