Intro to React Native: Develop mobile apps
As I said earlier, using react native you can develop for any platform and not limited to mobile. But its not as easy as it sounds like. For desktop apps, React native Windows is used which is maintained by folks at Microsoft, and still in active development, so a lot of things might change. For VR app, ViroReact is used, which is again is in active development. So its development is not as convenient as expo, and for someone new to react native, i won't suggest going that route. But once you are experienced, not one is stopping you and these are great technologies to develop native apps.

What to do you use for your AR projects?
I have googled and found a few libraries regarding AR/VR for react native. It seems to me that viro media has: https://github.com/ViroCommunity/viro and looks okay, but it seems that they haven't released anything in a while. I'm trying to create an AR app that is retail focused like this: https://imgur.com/a/tUMgu1W

I understand that the shire amount of libraries is overwhelming but I think there is a good amount of information on the web about that topic. Also a good point to start is this https://github.com/jondot/awesome-react-native repo. It contains a list of many good libraries made specifically for react native.
