Arch Linux Forms Emailing Plaintext Passwords
There are no passwords stored plain. The platform that powers the bbs is open source and tiny. You can check in <5 min that it's not doing anything shady here.

nimforum: Lightweight alternative to Discourse written in Nim
FluxBB [1], the PHP based forum that powers the Archlinux wiki works fine without JS, and IMHO looks fine too.
If you are looking for something minimal with threading support, fossil scm [2] includes a forum. You can checkout the forum for fossil itself which is powered by fossil.

A Critique of Cara.app: The 'No AI' Instagram and Artstation Copycat Child
The conclusion makes the point of view developed in the post quite clear:
> Do we all collectively need the same cycle of honeymoon then toxic relationship over and over? Couldn't we just move away from proprietary social media once and for all?
The author strongly suggests artists in want of an Instagram alternative to try out Pixelfed, the fediverse alternative: https://pixelfed.org/.

Instagram tests forcing users to watch adverts

Your privacy is optional
I do post many pictures, but I am tempted to self-host Pixelfed as well as an Instagram alternative.

Ask HN: What are some self-hosted photo organizing/sharing programs?
Is something like Pixelfed an option?

Too much complaining here about Instagram. PixelFed is the solution I found
I'm not affiliated with the project, neither I consider it a panacea, but anyone who might be interested, here it is: https://pixelfed.org/ It's best to use the web browser with it, although there's an Android app for it (PixelDroid), and there is an official app for iOS and Android currently in beta.

Can I block hashtags???
You can suggest features on the project github https://github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/issues

How decentralized is Threads? Not at all for now.
Contrary to initial expectations, Threads falls short in terms of embracing decentralization. Notably, the platform does not support the widely adopted ActivityPub protocol, which is essential for interoperability with other decentralized networks in the Fediverse. This absence prevents seamless interaction between Threads and existing platforms that adhere to decentralized principles, such as Mastodon and Pixelfed.
