Stars - the number of stars that a project has on GitHub. Growth - month over month growth in stars.
Activity is a relative number indicating how actively a project is being developed. Recent commits have higher weight than older ones.
For example, an activity of 9.0 indicates that a project is amongst the top 10% of the most actively developed projects that we are tracking.

Unable to update extensions in VSCodium-fhs
I'm not sure how to solve the issue with vscodium-fhs. But you can use https://github.com/nix-community/nix-vscode-extensions to install extensions from within your Nix configuration.

Why this overlay doesn't work?
The issue should be fixed once the nix-vscode-extension and fenix patches are merged. The latter will happen automatically once CI passes.

State of C++ development on VSCode?
I see a large number of C++ packages and from reading the descriptions alone I cannot tell what is "useful" or what and how things go together. I'm hoping to get some clarification on them. The awesome-vscode github lists multiple packages (I'm sure there are many more) and I have no idea how they intertwine.
What are some alternatives?
