Angband variant recs?
The other current one is Sil-Q, which is a further variant of an existing variant called Sil. I don't like it (either version) so I can't comment much, but it seems popular.

Any stealth based roguelikes ( or roguelites ) out there?
Check out Sil-Q, based on Angband and set in LoTR's deep past but completely redone so that spells and skills act together to make vastly less use of throwing fire around and vastly more of hiding, sealing doorways, increasing healing speed, seeing farther and through walls, putting monsters to sleep, and so on. It's surprisingly successful at feeling like Tolkien's accounts of the great accomplishments of Middle-Earth. https://github.com/sil-quirk/sil-q/

Sil-Q (which you should all check out!) YASD. Did this character have a shot at getting a Silmaril?
It does have a tileset as of Sil-Q 1.5, which you can download here. I drew it myself! I’d recommend changing the font to 16x25.fon in the topbar, then turning on the tiles after starting your first game. Have fun!

Does Moria have any advantage over Angband?
I believe Sil started as a fork of Angband, and it's a favourite of mine. You might want to check that out. (I believe currently the most up-to-date version is Sil-Q https://github.com/sil-quirk/sil-q).

Looking for a casual game to replace FreeCell
Sil - A roguelike based on LOTR with a strong emphasis on discovery and tactical combat. I personally recommend Sil-Q over the original version as it comes with a bunch of bug fixes, balancing changes and improvements to the game.

Searching for the most Rogue-like roguelike
Sil-Q, https://github.com/sil-quirk/sil-q, is an actively updated version of [Sil](https://nickmcconnell.github.io/AngbandPlus/sil.html), which itself is based on NPPAngband.

Holy sh*t, there's so many new updates and features in experimental.... is it worth restarting the game?
for experimental I use this launcher. https://github.com/remyroy/CDDA-Game-Launcher/releases

Cataclysm: There Is Still Hope
I don't know what launcher people use, but this file on this one defines the cdda repo urls: https://github.com/remyroy/CDDA-Game-Launcher/blob/master/cddagl/constants.py You could probably just changes that file to use tish urls.

trying to redownload a launcher
i got over to here:https://github.com/remyroy/CDDA-Game-Launcher/releasesbut i dont know what to download (still clueless to using Github)

New on the game
I highly recommend using a launcher, like the CDDA Launcher (which is not being updated anymore but still works well), or Catapult. These will not only launch the game, but will allow you to easily manage tilesets, soundpacks, save backups, etc.

Cool games no Kappa
Cataclysm DDA
- Looting, collecting items, and constant inventory management nearly ruins otherwise good games
- Post the little-known pro tips that you haven't had a chance to share yet! (For new or experienced players)

Looking for single-player games like Kenshi, Project Zomboid, etc.
Also, the game is 100% free. Gets multiple experimental updates daily (open-source). And has a fairly extensive modding scene with multiple tileset options to play with. You can grab the launcher here and it will let you download everything you need to start messing around.
- need help with soundpacks since I'm stupid
