the other argument, that your data and psychometry/stylometry is compromised by social media companies, well that is partly true. platforms will hide engagement metrics, like Youtube hiding downvotes, and Reddit hiding the upvote/downvote counts (though they were inaccurate in the past before they were removed). if this concerns you, look up self-sovereign identity and end-to-end encryption, there are projects around the world tackling this challenge to make sure we don't repeat mistakes from the past. look at projects like PrivateGPT as well. promote the release of newsfeed & recommendation algorithms and call out companies that refuse to be transparent about the power they wield over you.
