doom-modeline is quite minimal
bespoke-modeline is a minimal modeline, similar to nano, but with fewer requirements and slightly better project display info, etc.
mini-modeline merges the mode-line into the minibuffer. You can configure what kind of information you want to display on the left or right sides of the minibuffer when it's inactive.
Centaur tabs can signal unsaved buffers and the buffer's major mode (as an icon). You can hide the modeline completely if that's all you need.
This post actually reminded me that I had some bad tweaks I was irritated over in my config, diminished not diminishing some string. Done now, here is my modeline, quite happy with it. I used to have an overcrowded mode line, now there are only few things left on purpose (minus Omit mode in Dired being persistent to removal :-)). The only tool I use is dminished.
