For Mac I’d propose https://github.com/syl20bnr/spacemacs under the Mac OSX section. The direct link below. I personally use plus, but don’t think any of the choices there will be poor.
I definitely recommend railway’s Emacs port for someone starting with Emacs on macOS. It will look great without any configuration and will behave like a macOS app. Once you'll get more comfortable with Emacs and decide to customise it you could pick a different version (like emacs-plus) but then it will be more clear than to you what features you need/care about.
